Transformation into Designer Co-Working Space

The Shatin Industrial Centre is a multi-function commercial and industrial building located in Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong. In 2019, the entire sixth floor was transformed by tenant T.H.E Design into a dynamic co-working space tailored to the needs of an entrepreneurial community of designers and architects.

The space offers flexible layouts and direct access to local transport links, creating an inspiring environment for collaboration and innovation. T.H.E Design also won a Silver Award in the Hong Kong Design Awards 2019 (Interior Design — Corporate and Commercial) ahead of the space’s grand opening.

AET’s Role

For this refurbishment project, AET Flexible Space specified and delivered its CAM—C Direct Expansion (DX) UfAC system, significantly influencing the space’s interior design and performance. This project marked the first use of the CAM—C system in Hong Kong and Asia, making it a regional milestone for the technology. Eight CAM—C units supply conditioned air into underfloor zones, while 122 Fantile™ units recessed into the floor deliver comfortable, individualised airflow into the workspace. An air segregation baffle divides supply and return plena within the raised floor void, optimising distribution.

AET’s system provides full end-user control via Flexvisor BMS software for remote monitoring and management, with local touchscreen controllers allowing adjustment of fan speed, temperature, CO₂ levels and humidity — ensuring tailored comfort and energy efficiency for occupants.
