Landmark Waterfront Development

The Shanghai International Port Cruise Terminal is a major mixed-use waterfront development on the north Bund of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China, completed in 2010–2011 and covering approximately 260,000 m² of urban space. Designed as a gateway to the metropolis, the project combines cruise operations with office, retail, entertainment and public park areas, accommodating over 1.5 million passengers per year while integrating innovative environmental strategies such as river water cooling systems to reduce energy use.

Celebrated for its architectural vision and urban contribution, the development won the Best Mixed-Use Buildings award at the 2011 MIPIM Asia Awards in Hong Kong, recognising excellence in design, sustainability and mixed-use integration.

AET Role

As part of this monumental project, AET Flexible Space provided a highly efficient and flexible ventilation solution across the terminal’s vast built environment. The specification included 46 AHUs per floor, a total of 3,450 Fantiles™ and 26 fresh air units across twelve 8-storey buildings, delivering low-energy conditioned air distribution tailored to the complex’s dynamic occupancy and internal load conditions.
