Sustainable, flexible & energy efficient

AET underfloor air conditioning or ‘UfAC’ is a method of distributing conditioned air within the void below a raised access floor, which is introduced into the space via floor-recessed Fantile™ units, eliminating the need for ceiling-based services and associated ductwork and pipework.

How Underfloor Air Conditioning Works

At the core of AET’s underfloor air conditioning system are our innovative CAM™ (Conditioned Air Module) units, which deliver cooled or warmed air into the underfloor plenum. This conditioned air is then distributed directly into the workspace through our modular, floor-recessed Fantile™ units, allowing for localised control and enhanced occupant comfort.
Once the air has circulated through the space, it is returned to the CAM™ units via one of two configurations:

CAM™—V System

Air is drawn back at a high level, ideal for open-plan environments with ceiling returns.

CAM™—C System

Air is recirculated at floor level, suited to spaces without accessible ceiling voids.

In both systems, a portion of the return air is mixed with fresh, treated outside air, which is filtered and reconditioned before being reintroduced into the floor plenum.
This continuous loop ensures efficient climate control, improved indoor air quality, and reduced energy consumption.

The flexibility of our underfloor system supports rapid layout changes, minimises disruption during refurbishments, and aligns with modern sustainability and efficiency goals.

Tailored Climate Control for
Complex Building Needs

Every building has its own set of design challenges, ranging from structural limitations and architectural complexity to specific performance and sustainability requirements.

At AET, we understand that a one-size-fits-all approach isn’t effective in the modern built environment. That’s why our underfloor air conditioning systems are designed with versatility at their core.

We offer a comprehensive range of standardised system configurations that are proven, reliable, and easy to implement. In addition, our engineering team specialises in developing bespoke hybrid solutions tailored to unique project demands.

Whether retrofitting a heritage building, optimising a high-density office, or supporting agile workspaces, we work closely with our clients to ensure the system design aligns with both functional requirements and aesthetic goals.

This flexibility ensures our systems are applied correctly and effectively, delivering comfort, energy efficiency, and adaptability for today’s ever-evolving workspaces.

Sustainability built in

Carbon Reduction Without Compromise

At AET, sustainability is engineered into every system we deliver. Our Flexible Space underfloor air conditioning solutions are designed to achieve significant carbon savings without sacrificing comfort, performance, or adaptability.

By eliminating the need for extensive ductwork and overhead services, our systems reduce material usage, streamline transportation, and shorten installation times. This results in an 18% reduction in Upfront Carbon and a 16% reduction in Whole Life Embodied Carbon compared to traditional HVAC systems.

The benefits don’t stop at construction. In operation, our systems deliver ongoing energy efficiency, with up to 52% energy savings for refrigerant-based systems and up to 19% for water-based solutions. These savings support lower emissions, reduced running costs, and alignment with key environmental standards and certifications.

AET’s Flexible Space systems are future-ready, offering smart climate control that adapts as buildings evolve, all while helping to meet sustainability targets and regulatory demands.

Better for people. Better for buildings. Better for the planet.
